Helping Georgia Mountains employers launch apprenticeships through quick, expert-led webinars and real success stories.
The Georgia Mountains Works (GMW) Apprenticeship Webinar Series was launched by the Georgia Mountains Regional Commission â WorkSource Georgia Mountains to help small and mid-sized businesses create and sustain Registered Apprenticeship Programs throughout the region. An employer-focused initiative was designed to demystify the process of establishing, launching, and funding apprenticeships. As part of the work being done through the State Apprenticeship Expansion Formula (SAEF) grant administered by the Technical College System of Georgia, Apprenticeship Navigators have launched a four-part series that highlights the benefits of apprenticeships in Advanced Manufacturing and supporting industries, equipping businesses with the knowledge and tools they need to develop a skilled workforce. The series offered guidance on program development, funding, and mentorship, featuring real from Advanced Manufacturing and related industries.
Using the Apprenticeship model, this initiative empowered local businesses to strengthen their workforce pipeline, bridge critical skill gaps, and drive economic growth across the Georgia Mountains region. Finally, hosting these webinars on the Georgia Mountains Works website and social media platforms ensured accessibility and widespread engagement.
Each webinar attracted approximately 18â20 employers and generated follow-up conversations with over 130 individuals across employers, Kâ12 school systems, Chambers of Commerce, and other community partners regarding apprenticeship opportunities.
This project was also the recipient of a National Association of Development Organizations (NADO) Impact Award in 2025.
